A research that explores the ability of different parts of cities to react to change related to the creation of large-scale services. The research takes on and analyses the relationship between the space in the city and the socio-economical conditions of those who live within some of Milan’s neighbourhoods. This research is based on the analysis and cataloguing of the neighbourhoods of the city that was dealt with in the Government’s Plan of the Territory of Milan and can thus be taken as a project and planning system of services at local level. The research is lead by Nicola Russi with Andrea Matteo Azzolini within the workgroup coordinated by Cesare Macchi Cassia in the 2009 Workshop on Railway Yards organized by the Faculty of Civil Architecture of the Politecnico di Milano, and featured in the book “Gli Spazi della Povertà (Poverty’s Spaces)” by Enrica Chiappero-Martinetti, Stefano Moroni, Giampaolo Nuvolati. Editor: Bruno Mondadori Editore.
