Laboratorio Permanente’s first villa has been designed for an astonishing location in the heart of Mediterranean Sea. Located on the Elba island, the main one of the Tuscany’s archipelago, the Prima-villa blooms out of an ancient pine forest, transformed today into a regional protected park.
It’s simple volumes are Inspired by the Italian modern villa tradition.
Shifted cubes have been settled to maximize the sea view on the east and west side throughout a multiple system of squared windows. On the southern side, where the top of the hill is, a patio opens the house to the forest.
Traditional construction materials are composed in a contemporary design characterised by wide and deep window boxes, spaces to experience the outside from the inside, admiring the horizon, relaxing next to the nature. The natural stones fa├žades are enriched by the insertion of wooden frames boxing for the windows and concrete surfaces in the wall. The interior has been designed like a long promenade cutting trough spaces with different heights
